HAIL MARY, HOLY MARY

Ever notice that the first part of the Hail Mary, up to the point we bow our heads and say “Jesus,” can be seen as depicting Mary’s life in the world as a pure woman, at the Annunciation, the Visitation, and the Nativity, while the rest (”Holy Mary, Mother of God…”) might be seen as evoking her glorified role as Queen of Heaven, as we humbly ask for her powerful intecession? It is because of Jesus, of course, the intervening Word that has changed and does change all things –for her and for us and the world.
