I was extremely pleased to become aware of a new member in a Catholic group I enjoy, someone actively working to fight human trafficking. Here in the U.S human trafficking is a reality, but it is either unknown or ignored by most people. Simply bringing it out of the dark and spreading the awareness that such things do exist on a large scale is one of the most effective things that can be done, and it is something that we all can do. It is an unpleasant topic which people avoid considering, but it is a bad sickness of society, just as cancer is a disease of individuals. It caters to the rich and powerful, so it often is insulated from exposure and control by payoffs, hired goons and ruthless retaliation. Deliver us from evil!
