Furthermore…

I’ve been ruminating over what kind of comedy sketch my friend Anthony and I can put together and perform that might prod men and boys to take the Church more seriously and get more active in their parishes. One idea was to do a takeoff on one of the classic Abbott & Costello or Jack Benny routines. I have to wonder, though, if many of the younger guys would be familiar with those things from my generation. Another idea is that we might portray one guy giving a lot of stupid reasons why he soft peddles the church in his life, while the other guy (perhaps an older brother) blows all the excuses of of the water. Another tack would be a sheepish parishioner who hasn’t been seen in church for a while running into his pastor at a shopping center or other public venue.
