ROSARY MEDITATIONS
I’m thinking that the 5 Joyful Mysteries of the Holy Rosary have nice correspondences with the things that take place during Holy Mass.
The ANNUNCIATION - The Holy Spirit initiates the entry of Jesus into the world through the mystery of the Incarnation. On the altar, the priest invokes the action of the Holy Spirit, to bring Jesus into our midst, as we witness the mystery of the Epiklesis.
The VISITATION - Mary, out of love and service, brings Jesus, help and consolation to a needy St. Elizabeth. At Mass, the priest and Eucharistic Ministers bring Jesus to the people.
The NATIVITY - Jesus is born into the world and given to us, having taken on our human nature. At Mass, Jesus is brought into the world, body and blood, soul and divinity, and offers Himself to us in the intimate vehicle of Holy Communion.
The PRESENTATION - Mary and St. Joseph present Baby Jesus to the Lord and society in the Temple. In church, at the Elevation, Jesus is presented to all present.
The FINDING OF JESUS IN THE TEMPLE - Mary and St. Joseph, feeling great distress in losing the Jesus they love, are joyful when He is once again united with them. We can feel a comparable joy when we are reunited with Jesus receiving Holy Communion.
