Furthermore…

As people outside church see socks flying by and hanging from trees, someone says:

“That new preacher certainly knocks their socks off!”

The last few days when I’ve looked at the Eucharist on the altar it has had a new significance for me. I am filled with a terrible sadness that Jesus did everything he could for us and even now He is there for us to love and adore, but mankind has always turned away and now seems to be getting even further away from accepting and understanding Him, believing in what He said and did, and is still doing, for us. It seems so cockeyed and wrongheaded, unless you don’t believe, discounting and resisting the beautiful truth that we have been given.
