THE BREATH OF DAWN
At church this morning we sang the hymn “On Eagle’s Wings.” I have a girlfriend named Connie, who at one time worked in the media using the name ‘Dawn.’ So I sent her a playful note about the hymn.
“And He will raise you up on eagle’s wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.
For to His angels He’s given a command,
To guard you in all of your ways,
Upon their hands they will bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
“Hi Luv,
“Some people never get the word, like, none of the people singing seemed to know it’s “Connie” now, not “Dawn.” Funny the hymn would include something about anybody’s breath, tho. Go figure!
“So every time they were all singing Dawn, I was real loud and strong with Connie. They were staring at me with such looks of admiration: imagine, I was the only one in the whole church who knew it’s Connie now, not Dawn anymore. I was so proud!”
