ST JOSEPHINE BAKHITA
I was so touched by a little account of the life of St Josephine Bakhita I heard on the radio today, marking her feast day. Her life was so full and varied: full of things we can hardly imagine in our modern world, and varied in the many phases and chapters through which she passed along her journey to sainthood.
She was a teacher during the years after she had become a religious. Some of her pupils lauded her for her sweet personality and beautiful voice. I love that description, because I am enamoured of a sweet, sweet lady with a beautiful, musical voice. She is, however, not of the saintly bent. Or if she is, it has not come to my attention. God knows.
