TEN IS AN UNWELCOME CROWD

Or: how to help someone kick the porn habit

I hear many discussions on the radio of the problems associated with the ‘use’ of pornography. But maybe the considerations herein will help wean away from it some of those wrapped up in that  particularly insidious evil.

I don’t know how many guys, and possibly girls, not on camera, have to be on the set for a porn shoot, so let’s assume it’s 10. That’s besides the principals, or bad actors, or sex objects, or whatever the on-screen ones might be called. I think part of the allure of the sleazy stuff is the illusion that one is an invisible ’fly on the wall’ witnessing some seamy sexual scene. But in truth, if one were to use one’s brains it becomes clear that actually there are a bunch of jaded sexploitation types on the premises and involved, doing the lighting, sound, direction, camera operation, makeup, electrical and what all.  Maybe even someone watching for the cops!

Seems to me that calling to mind the presence of all these doofuses would help dispel the illusion of private voyeurism, and help  persons to realize that they are being  sucker victims of a crass, classless industry.

So doesn’t this help to pop the illusion of being only an invisible gawker? I think it could be useful in breaking the habit, as well as in counseling.
