UNSOUND REASONING

I heard discussion a few days ago about how St. Thomas Aquinas in his Summa Contra Gentiles beautifully summarized and characterized the arguments abroad at the time against the faith. I wonder how well this is being done today. It seems we know what arguments we reject but don’t have a good appreciation of the assumptions and reasoning that has led the secularists, post-modernists and materialists to their conclusions.  And how familiar are we with the sociology of their knowledge, i.e. who tells and teaches who what, and why do they do that? There is a lot to be gained from understanding the byways and meanderings of unsound reasoning, especially when it seems to be coming closer and closer to calling the contemporary tune.
