Feminist with megaphone on gangplank of departing Choice Supporters Cruise:
All abort!
Almost every Sunday I glean a joke or two at the 9 o’clock Mass, and later send a sample to my Jewish friend, whose deepest belief is, I think, in humor.
Kind of a slow day for humor at Church today. Maybe it was because every seat was taken. That has a way of putting everyone is a serious mood, with all the personal space bubbles getting popped by strangers. They did celebrate a couple’s marriage of 50 years, and a lot of people nowadays do treat marriage as a joke.
Fisherman reeling in a mermaid in nun’s habit, says, “Just my luck!”
While our group prays The Chaplet of Divine Mercy, my mind fidgets.
“Have mercy on us, and on the whole world.”
Every time I say ‘us,’ it nets a different school of fish. It’s our group, in this particular room, at this time. Then it’s the HIV/AIDS victims for whom we are praying. Then it’s my friends and family. Then it’s all the people anywhere involved in an AIDS ministry. Then it’s my deceased parents. I think, It’s not EVERYONE EVERYWHERE because “on the whole world” already covers that base. ‘Who is Us’ is what I’m supposed to be solving.
It’s our Parish. It’s our locality. It’s the U.S. I like that last one!
